Job Title: Private Duty Nurse for 1:1 with student

To provide appropriate nursing care to student assigned to.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The nurse will provide basic nursing functions for child with special needs.
- Assists child in changing clothing/washing up and toileting.
- Patricipates in in-service training programs as assigned.

Administers and monitors medications, treatments and self care as stipulated by written school health policies and procedures.
- Establishes and maintains a positive rapport with all students and staff.

Plans, organizes and coordinates a method of providing first aid and emergency care as well as care of the student.

Review and interpreting medical reports.

Attends committee meetings, in-service training programs and conferences regarding health service. Attend at least one continuing education seminar annually which is to be approved by the Director of Nursing.

Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Supervisory Duties
Supervises students that are in their care.
Qualifications
Education/ Experience
Certificates/ Licenses/ Registrations

Currently licensed to practice in the State of Missouri, Must be LPN - not CNA or RN

Current CPR certification
Skills and Abilities
Language
Individual must be able to read and interpret documents; write simple and complex reports, applications, and correspondence; and speak effectively with students, staff members, and community members.
Computation
The individual must have the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference; and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning
Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, as well as the ability to interpret and follow directions.
Technology
The individual must understand basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use. Will be using district software for recording and finding student information.
Additional Skills and Abilities
Must have the ability to assess, triage, and treat various injuries/illnesses in an efficient and timely manner. The individual must be organized, honest, and professionally grounded. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Also, must be able to keep information confidential when required by law, policy, or a particular situation

The individual who holds this position will regularly work in an active school environment with many distractions. Occasional exposure to sharps and disease should be expected. The individual may occasionally be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading buses, supervise safety drills, and other duties as they may be assigned. There is a minimal risk of injury associated with this position.
Terms of Employment
177 days per school year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
